HOW TO MAKE MONEY FROM AGRICULTURE


Today, we will be explaining how you can make money from venturing into Agriculture, actually there are many ways to make money in Agriculture, in this write-up, we will be sampling them one after the other.
Before we go into that, we want to talk about those things you must put in place before starting up an Agricultural enterprise. They include:
- You must have the necessary knowledge: In every venture in life, having the necessary knowledge and skills is a most. Agro business is not an exception, whatever aspect of Agriculture you want to explore, you must have the basic knowledge. You can have the knowledge yourself or employ experts who can help you out. The choice is yours.
- Location: If you are going into production, you need to settle the issue of your farm location, where will it be? How accessible is the location? How close is it to your prospective market? etc. you need to have that settled.
- The Market: There is no business that will thrive without a steady market, you need to find out where your market is, who will buy? How do they want it? And what quantity do they want?
- Your Niche: This will lead us to the main topic of the day. Your Niche is what you want to specialize on, and we will treat that extensively next. Please read on.
                                                AREAS YOU CAN SPECIALIZE
- Production: Whether it is crop or animal production, once you have settled the points earlier discussed, you are good to go, as long as there are people on earth, there will always be need for production of Agricultural produce. In subsequent posts, we will delve into production proper.
- Supply: This is a very lucrative aspect of Agro business, in fact, some suppliers make more profit than many producers. If you want to go into Agro business, it is advised you start with supply, since it will give you broad knowledge of the market.
- Breeding: Breeding is the use of scientific methods to produce improved/better varieties/breeds of plants/animals. In Agriculture, breeding is broad field on its own, which is very lucrative now due to technological advancements and changing human desires.
- Consultancy: Once you have gathered good knowledge/experience in any field of Agriculture and you have been certified by the relevant professional body, you can begin to give expert advice to prospective farmers for good fees.
- Input supplies: You can decide to sell Agricultural farm inputs, raw materials to those who are into production or supply, in which case, you are not directly involved in production.
- Teaching/Lecturing: You can teach Agriculture at Higher institutions, Secondary and Primary schools, today, lecturing jobs pay well and you might want to give it a thought.
- Processing: You can go into processing Agricultural produces from raw to finished products or from liquid to solid state to enhance shelf life. Today there are a lot of people making money from the conversion of liquid egg to powder. This is a neglected area of poultry business. So think and think big, wide and beyond the margin. These are some of the many ways you can make money as an Agriculturist, with advancing technology, other ways of money making in Agriculture are springing up daily. Take your time to choose a Niche.

It is strongly advised that you carefully study your environment to look for that Agricultural services that is highly needed in your environment and is not readily available or available in insufficient amount. You can start by rendering that service instead of joining the bandwagon which may not yield the desired results
